Onwer/Director
Hi! My name is Mayra L. Ramirez, and I’m originally from Honduras, Central America. I’m a proud mom to two wonderful daughters, Sofia and Valeria. Sofia is currently in high school, and Valeria is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho. Both of them entered the Boise School District through dual language programs and are now fully fluent in English!
I hold a degree in Education with a focus on Family and Consumer Sciences and spent eight years teaching Home Economics in Honduras. My husband also has a strong background in education—he taught for 15 years and served as the Director of a bilingual school. These days, he owns and operates his own roofing company and occasionally helps out with school pickups and maintenance at our preschool.
My passion for early childhood education has grown over the past eight years here in Boise. At Mayra Spanish Preschool, my team and I are fully certified and licensed. We hold current CPR/AED certifications, have passed all required background checks, and complete annual screenings through the City of Boise Licensing Department to ensure a safe and trusted environment for your child.
I design our curriculum with care, drawing inspiration from HighScope, Montessori, and the Estrellita method. Every activity and lesson is created from scratch with your child’s development, curiosity, and joy for learning in mind.
This year, I’m incredibly proud to celebrate 10 years of providing childcare in the Treasure Valley. It’s been an honor to serve this amazing community and watch so many children grow, explore, and thrive!

Assistance Director
Hi! My name is Valeria, but everyone calls me Val. I’m the Assistant Director at Mayra Spanish Preschool and the daughter of the owner, Mayra. I’ve been involved with the daycare since it first opened, and I truly love being part of this amazing community!
At the preschool, I help with a variety of responsibilities, including monthly newsletters, parent tours, managing our website and social media, organizing field trips, and planning fun events for both children and parents. I also enjoy working closely with families to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported.
Currently, I’m studying for my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho. Most of the year, I work remotely, but I make sure to stay closely involved and am always back in Boise during breaks and holidays.
When I’m not studying or working, I love spending time with my dog, Rocco. He’s such a big part of my life that he’s even my profile picture on almost everything!
Working with children brings me so much joy, and I’m passionate about helping create a fun, safe, and enriching experience for all the little ones at our daycare.

Preschool Teacher
Hi! My name is Maestra Lorena and I’m originally from Honduras. I’m proud to be the sister of Mayra, the owner of Mayra Spanish Preschool, and part of this wonderful family-run program. I have a son named Ian, and I absolutely love working with children!
I currently teach our preschool class for children ages 3 and up—what we lovingly call our “big kids” group. It's such a joy to watch them grow, learn, and develop their independence through fun and engaging activities.
Before moving to the United States, I lived in Spain for a few years, which gave me a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures and languages. Now, I’m happy to call Boise home and to be part of such a caring and passionate team here at the preschool.
Being able to support young children in their learning journey is something I’m truly passionate about, and I’m so grateful to be part of a program that values education, creativity, and family connection.

Hi! My name is María Concepción, but everyone lovingly calls me Mami Concha. I’m the proud mother of Mayra, the owner of Mayra Spanish Preschool, and Lorena, one of our wonderful teachers. I’m also known as the “grandma” of the daycare, and I’m so happy to be part of this loving, family-run community.
At the preschool, I take care of preparing delicious meals for all our little ones, and like my daughter lorena I lived in Spain for a few years. Cooking is one of my greatest joys, and I love creating nutritious, homemade dishes inspired by American, Spanish and Honduran cuisine. Food is a beautiful way to share culture, and I enjoy giving the children a variety of flavors and meals that feel like home.
You’ll almost always find me in the kitchen, happily cooking and making sure everyone is well-fed and cared for. It brings me so much joy to know that the children enjoy the meals I prepare—and nothing makes me happier than seeing them smile after a good lunch!

Hi! My name is Alexa Ramirez, and I’m originally from Honduras but spent most of my life living in Spain. Now, I’m proud to be part of the team at Mayra Spanish Preschool, where I work as the lead teacher in our baby room.
I absolutely love working with our littlest learners. Caring for babies during these early, important stages of development is something I’m truly passionate about. Every day, I focus on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where each baby can grow, explore, and feel loved.
With my background and multicultural experience, I enjoy bringing a blend of Honduran and Spanish warmth and care into the classroom. It’s a joy to watch each baby’s personality begin to shine, and I feel honored to be part of their very first learning experiences.Item description

Hi! My name is Blanca, and I’m originally from Mexico. At Mayra Spanish Preschool, I have the joy of teaching our wonderful group of toddlers—children ages 1½ to 3 years old.
This age group is full of energy, curiosity, and big milestones, and I absolutely love being part of their journey. Every day, I work to create a warm, supportive, and engaging environment where each child feels safe, encouraged, and excited to learn.
It’s amazing to watch how quickly they grow during this stage—learning new words, making friends, and discovering the world around them. I feel so proud to be part of these early years and to help lay the foundation for their future learning.
“If kids come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important.”
